You might be wondering why membership matters in the life of the church. You might be thinking, the NT doesn’t command church membership. Well, that’s only partially true. The picture of the early church in Acts is clearly one that assumes membership (cf. Acts 2:47; 5:15; 16:5; 17:11). Not only that, but the NT is absolutely clear that every believer must be committed to a local body of Christ, and that’s precisely what membership communicates. In fact, an attitude of independence from and a lack of commitment to the church is even sinful (Heb. 10:25). Considering those realities, there really is no reason not to join us in membership. Membership communicates to the whole body and to the world your commitment to serve and support a particular body of believers. That is truly a wonderful thing in an age where independence is a virtue.
Whether you would like to join our church in membership, or just want to find out more about our church, we would like to invite you to join us for our upcoming New Members’ Class. This course will provide a brief overview of our church’s membership process, core beliefs, constitution, and bylaws. It will also explain the importance of membership in the church, and your responsibilities as a member. Therefore, a key component of this class will also explain our church’s various ministries and assist you in finding where you can begin serving. This course will be taught by High Point Baptist Church Elders.
Please sign up at the Welcome Center on the next Sunday morning you are in attendance.
