What Does the Bible Really Teach about Homosexuality?
by Kevin DeYoung

From Our Elders:
DeYoung’s book came out at a most opportune time. Not only that, but it is assertively committed to the authority of God’s Word even though it stands in contradiction to the contemporary culture. That is precisely why we rushed to get this book into your hands. It will help you think biblically about the issue of homosexuality and strengthen your convictions. DeYoung’s approach is extremely helpful and practical. The book is divided into two sections. The first looks at key biblical passages, and the second evaluates common contemporary objections to homosexuality as sin.

In Part 1, DeYoung is careful in his commitment to accurately represent the biblical text accurately and faithfully as it relates to homosexuality. In his own words, he argues from a very “narrow” perspective. However, what is also helpful is that he presents many of the objections or “revisionary” interpretations of the texts in question, while showing where they err. His conclusions are undeniable. God’s Word is abundantly clear about the issue, and every revisionary reinterpretation of the Bible only proves to undo the whole of the Scriptures. This section will help you in making a biblical defense, equipping you with the right “go to” passages when discussing the matter of homosexuality.

Part 2 is also immensely helpful, as DeYoung anticipates the many objections we all hear. This is the, “Okay, the Bible says that, but…” section. DeYoung is very careful to point out where we cannot allow our emotions, feelings, or societal pressure to determine our position on the matter of homosexuality. He is bold, but gracious, and he successfully and winsomely argues why marriage can only be between one man and one woman. Overall, this book will undoubtedly help you understand the reasons why we believe what we believe about homosexuality.
